Mattie's Foundation has been formed to continue spreading the message of hope and peace offered by this young man by as many means as possible. Jeni Stepanek, Mattie's mom, and the other officers are committed to implementing that goal.
The development of a sculpture in Mattie’s honor, and the planning of the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park at King Farm currently account for most of the activities of the Foundation.
With the publication of Mattie's final book, Just Peace: A Message of Hope, which he wrote in collaboration with President Jimmy Carter, the Foundation looks forward to the great opportunity of both spreading the message presented there and stimulating activities which will give life to this message.
Among these activities will be programs in schools and colleges, particularly in Peace Studies courses. Through competitions the Foundation plans to sponsor in schools, they hope to support the development of programs which will contribute to peace in schools, in families and in communities. The Foundation gladly accepts donations and you can view our fundraising brochure.
