King Farm Citizens Assembly

The King Farm Citizens Assembly is the organization responsible for the management, maintenance, structure, and day to-day operations of King Farm's residential sections. All residential titleholders pay monthly fees to the Assembly; these fees enable the Assembly to govern, beautify and maintain the community.

Elected Officers

President Chris Swann is the head of the Assembly's executive branch; he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Assembly and is in charge of interfacing with external entities (primarily the City) to explain the position and interests of the community.

The Board of Trustees are the head of the Assembly's legislative branch; they are responsible for policydecisions, contract and budget approvals and additions or changes to the community's governing documents. Current Board of Trustee members are Rob Recklaus, James Caplan, Martin Green, Barry Jackson, and Jon Oberg.   Mr. Jackson & Mr. Oberg's terms expire in 2010 and Mr. Recklaus, Mr. Caplan and Mr. Green's terms expire in 2011. 

King Farm Conservancy

The Conservancy oversees certain functions that encompass the entire King Farm community—residential (represented by King Farm resident Chris Swann), commercial (offices, hotel, and Ingleside retirement home, represented by developer Janice Fothergill), and retail space (King Farm Village Center, represented by Virginia Brown of Regency Centers). Presently, its primary responsibility is to manage the community-wide shuttle bus service to and from the Shady Grove Metro Station. Fees to support the shuttle and maintain the common property are levied and collected from all King Farm property owners.


King Farm Associates

In terms of the community we have come to know as “King Farm”, King Farm Associates (KFA) is the entity that started the whole process. In 1996, KFA purchased the old farmstead. KFA and architectural firm Torti Gallas then completed a concept plan for the community, got appropriate governmental approval shortly thereafter, began construction activities in 1997, completed the residential areas of the community in 2005 and are currently continuing construction of the commercial/hotel area of the Community. There are two remaining office buildings scheduled for construction, and these will be finished as market conditions permit.

Community Management

The on-site staff are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Assembly and compliance with established Assembly policies and procedures set by the Board of Trustees. Their office is in the Community Center at 300 Saddle Ridge Circle (301-987-0122), and their hours are M-Th, 8:30am-5pm and Friday from 9am-3pm.
